  • Customs Clearing:

    Big Apple is registered with South African Customs (SARS) as an accredited agent, in association with SA Revenue Systems (Customs), enables us to offer a full customs brokerage service to customers, utilising electronic data interchanges (EDI). We have EDI access to Customs and Excise in all the main ports of South Africa, enabling us to clear shipments through customs 365 days a year. Shipshape also allows us to prepare import estimates prior to shipment, and we can also produce line by line costing of goods after they have been landed in SA. These are both valuable tools which enable customers to plan orders, and to cost goods at the time of receipting them into their own system
  • Road Freight :

    We are a dedicated team with specialist knowledge of over border road freight to neighbouring territories. We act as brokers and are able to select and utilise hauliers who specialise on particular routes. Having first-hand knowledge of the route planning, autocratic policy with regards to border crossings, and road conditions along the route. We offer services for full loads, dedicated vehicles and consolidations. In order to ensure prompt border crossings we have appointed agents in all the neighbouring territories and they are able to assist importers at destination with documentary requirements in these foreign countries. Our main destinations are Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and the DRC, other destinations are as per request.

WHAT WE DO

We import and export cargo on behalf of our client across the country. We process documents and make sure that they are declared in order before the truck gets to the border. We give special attendance by instruction from the client as it comes with a fee. Special attendance is escorting the driver from SARS to the other side of the border to be able to assist if there is any request or query from the officials on both sides. We offer to keep original documents after being processed at both sides of the offices as the driver sometimes lose them or give them to the wrong people and then the client cannot claim the tax back if it was include on the invoice. This is also on instruction from the client as it comes with a cost. The rule with SARS regarding the import vat payments is they do not accept more than R2000 cash at the window, it should be Cheque, EFT or E-filling. So Big Apple is there to assist their clients by paying the Vat on behalf of them via E-filling. The procedure is that the client deposit the money in to our account and when it reflect we make the payment to SARS. This can save time for clients that uses different bank and the money takes time to reflect into SARS account. We follow instruction and always update our clients of any change at SARS. We keep our records safe and it is up to date. We keep copies of all our clients and we are always ready for any audit from SARS.
